A General Note About Where To Fly To

We recommend that, if possible, all travellers arrive in either Torino or Genova airports as these are the easiest ways to reach Alessandria.

If you are travelling from London, Ryanair offers cheap direct flights from Stansted to either Torino or Genova.

Arriving at Milano is also fine, but instead of being able to catch a direct train to Alessandria, you have to change lines at some stage.

How to get to Alessandria from Torino Caselle Airport

This is probably your easiest way to get to Alessandria. If you can, we advise you to have your flight arrive in Torino ("Turin" in English) as opposed to Milano as there is a direct train to Alessandria from the train station in Torino.

At the airport, it is possible to take buses to Porta Nuova train station (the main train station in Torino).  The bus is called SADEM and it departs about every 15 minutes. This trip is about 45 minutes long and you can buy tickets on board (it will cost 5, 50 euros)

From the train station of Porta Nuova  you need to take a train whose destination will be listed as one of the following: Bologna, Genova or Reggio Calabria.

Alessandria is about  one hour by train from Torino.

How to get to Alessandria from Genova C. Colombo Airport

If you arrive at Genova airport ("Genoa" in English), you need to get  a bus called AMT Genova that will take you to the train station of Genova PrincipeYou can buy tickets on board (the cost is 6 euros).

From there, there are direct trains to Alessandria whose destination will be listed as Torino Porta Nuova. There are trains about every hour and this trip takes about one hour.

How to get to Alessandria from Milan Malpensa 2 Airport

When you arrive at the airport, directly in front of the exit you will see a number of buses. You need to take a bus that goes to Milano Centrale (which is the main train station in Milano). There are a few buses that will take you there and they leave very regularly (every 15 mins or so). One is called "Malpensa Shuttle". This trip is about an hour long and you can buy tickets on board.

When you arrive at Milano Centrale train station, you need to go into the main hall where all the platforms are and buy a ticket to Alessandria from the ticket booth (a "biglietterie" in Italian). Note that as there are no direct trains to Alessandria, you will have to change at some point in your journey. We will post more detailed information about this shortly. Watch this space!

Where is Alessandria?
